Shuttle Time is a BWF badminton education programme that is delivered in schools and clubs, primarily to beginning players and children. It supports the principle that everyone should lead a healthy and active life. It is delivered by qualified BWF Shuttle Time Teachers/Coaches.
The Shuttle Time coach education course offers beginning coaches quality training and accreditation to coach beginners and intermediate level players, and gives them the skills to deliver the badminton ‘Sporting Schools’ program.
To become qualified to teach badminton in Australia, you will need to take part and pass the Shuttle Time Teacher course AND complete the three (3) online ASC courses whilst accrediting with Badminton Australia. Details of how you do this can be found on the reaccreditation page here:
Shuttle Time Coaches have access to free resources, training and equipment from BWF that support the teaching of enjoyable, safe and inclusive badminton activities. The focus is on providing a sufficient skills base to support a lifetime participation, since long-term engagement relies on acquiring movement skills competence, as well as the confidence and opportunity to seek a physically active lifestyle.
The programme is made up of a teacher/coach training program and a series of teaching resources, which include: teacher’s manual, 22 lesson plans and 92 supporting video clips.
The level of complexity and skills increases as the Coach progresses through the 22 prepared lesson plans. It is suitable for all from school-aged children to intermediate playing adults. The lessons can be adapted to suit any players starting to play badminton and enjoying participation.
