Badminton Australia is the National Governing Body for the sport of Badminton throughout Australia.

Badminton Australia is the peak body for Badminton in Australia. It is recognised as the peak body by the Australian Sports Commission, Sporting Integrity Australia, Australian Olympic Committee, Commonwealth Games Australia, Paralympics Australia and the Badminton World Federation. The values of the organisation are recognised in the strategic plan; Real collaboration, Achieving as a team, Leadership, Lots of fun and Yes to inclusion (R.A.L.L.Y)

Badminton Australia is made up of the 8 State & Territory badminton peak organisations who represent almost 270 clubs and associations across Australia. Over 300,000 people participation in badminton each year, with hundreds of thousands more through school and social participation. It is estimated that 95% of the Australian population has participated in badminton at some time in their lives. 81 players have represented Australia at the Commonwealth Games, 35 players have represented Australia at an Olympic games and 2 players at the Paralympic Games. 

The objectives of Badminton Australia include:

  • Participate as a member of the International Badminton Federation (BWF) so badminton can be conducted, encouraged, promoted, advanced and administered in Australia;
  • At all times act on behalf of, and in the interest of, the member and badminton in Australia;
  • Promote the economic and community service success, strength and stability of badminton in Australia;
  • Formulate, adopt and implement a rule and policy framework;
  • Conduct and manage national and international badminton competition and events;
  • Select, prepare and enter Australian teams in international competitions;
  • Promote the health and safety of Member and all other participants of badminton in Australia; and
  • Provide players, coaches, court officials and administrators within badminton across Australia with the equal opportunity to compete and develop their skills and abilities
