BA has appointed Tracy Southern as the National Education Manager

Tracy has MBA’s from both the University of Newcastle (NSW), University of Birmingham (UK) and a Physical Education degree from the University I of Brighton (UK). She is currently undertaking a PhD in Sports Governance. She also has a variety of other professional qualifications and was involved and played badminton in the UK and is a badminton Coach.

Amongst other things she has been Business Manager for the International Football School on the Central Coast which involved links with community / sports groups and schools; was general Manager of the Central Coast Mariners Football Club, Sport and Recreation Development Manager for the Wyong Shire Council, General Manager Leisure Australia, Lecturer at the Australian College of Physical Education, Lecturer in Sports Management at the University College Birmingham, and is currently Deputy Chair of the Central Coast Sports Federation.

The duties that Tracy will assume include :

  • Integration of the Shuttle Time Teacher Program into the Coach Education program in cooperation with the National Participation Manager
  • Adoption and implementation of recommendations from the 2015 Coach Education Review
  • Providing leadership and national direction for both the Coach and Technical Officials Education Programs including working with and assisting Members on the delivery of programs, work with Members on conducting Course Presenter’s workshops to increase the quality and quantity of coaches and technical officials at all levels
  • Monitor, manage and expand in cooperation with Members the educational resources available to support the Coach and Technical Officials Programs
  • Re-establish a Coach Education Advisory Panel and review in cooperation with key Technical Officials the structure and composition of a Technical Advisory Committee
  • Liaise with the ASC Workforce team responsible for Governance and Business Capability
  • Prepare and update annually the Badminton Coach and Technical Officials Education Framework
  • Monitor and supervise all the coach education and technical officials accreditation data, process applications and ensure data bases are updated
  • Ensure BA and Members are updated on policies, practices and trends
  • Prepare reports for the Board, Members and funding agencies
  • Liaise with the ASC on all these matters as appropriate
  • and of course undertake any other duties as determined by the CEO from time to time.
